Park in Popești-Leordeni
Project description
Our project aims to create a green area for the community, on a plot located in Popești-Leordeni in a developing housing area. Currently the space is littered with waste, making it a fire and contamination hazard. As the plot has only one opening towards Drumul Fermei Street, the design prompt includes the construction of an easement road between the future park and the neighbouring supermarket. The main objective is to improve residents' quality of life, facilitating the access to leisure activities. We propose the construction of a square at the junction of the new road with Drumul Fermei Street, to mark the park entrance. The square is highlighted by a metal fountain. The fountain is made out of galvanized pipe bars with a diameter of 10 cm, covered in a layer of anti-corrosion protective paint. The water curtains fall from the horizontal bars through a metal grid that hides the underground water recirculation reservoir.A blue concrete alley guides to the playground that have been placed inside the park for protection. The play area for children aged between 1 and 5 are separated from that intended for older chirdren. These two playgrounds occupy two triangular spaces, joined through an area covered with a sun shade pavilion. Its metallic structure is roofed with a blue wire mesh. The frames have a width of 3m and are positioned at distance of 3m between each other, over a total length of 60m. Under this structure there are stools and benches facing the playgrounds. Alongside the structure wisteria will be planted, giving the pavilion the appearance of a green tunnel during the summer. The park will be planted with trees, shrubs and perennial plants, chosen so that throughout the year the park maintains its lively chromatics. The soil resulting from excavations carried out for the various structures will be used to create a new topography. The project also provides a dog park.The project started in 2019 and is expected to be finalized this year.
