The Phenomenon

Tudor Constantinescu is an architect (2007) and photographer (2009), founder of Ideogram Studio architecture office and Ideilagram Association. His photographic projects are long-term, capturing moments of transformations of the built space, and bringing together, in the same image, the discussion about the present, past, future. "Capsula urbana" documents encapsulated spaces in time: the craftsmen workshops, former engines of the city, questioning their survival in the contemporary city. "The Phenomenon" is an ongoing visual exploration, started in 2011 in a number of 60 cities. The photos follow a pattern of urban shrinkage in Romania, finally reflecting the "Phenomenon s"multifaceted dimension. Beyond the obvious themes, consequences of urban growth and decline, and their seemingly negative connotations, the project actually reveals a huge amount of resources and immortalizes a moment of infinite possibilities. The series is not about an end, but about the hope of a new beginning.
