Institute of Craft Heritage. Baia Mare

Project description

Located in Păcii Square no.2, Baia Mare, with a rich history in crafts and traditions, the Institute has as main objective, the recovery, transmission and reinterpretation of traditions through crafts, in contemporary design by: craft workshops, educational workshops, exhibition galleries and sales. Out of the desire to preserve the free space and to solve the deficient situations, the project activates the currently inactive adjacent spaces: a dual revitalization. The local elements were identified and used: CORRIDOR ENTRANCE, INTERIOR COURTYARD, ROOF TEXTURE, DENSITY and ROUTE. The precinct is crossed by a newly generated route, from the direction of the Central Square, which connects with the historical route (Armoniei Alley). The perspective ends are marked by small vertical accents, and the central corner of the square by a tower. Particular importance is given to the pedestrian walkway, which leaves every corner of the building free to cross.
