Author's presentation text

Architect and photographer, Andreea Cel Mare investigates the identity of her hometown Bucharest, a city where the stances of modernity don’t succeed naturally, but establish themselves abruptly, devastating the previous ones. The proposed series, extracted from a wider photographic documentation commissioned for the book Horia Creangă. A monograph (edited by Zeppelin, “Ion Mincu” University Publishing House and SG Studio), addresses the responsibility towards the architectural heritage of the interwar Romanian modernism. Totally different representations (a façade detail of the manifesto - building Aro - Patria, a look to the city through a swivel window of Barbu Dimitrescu building and the door handle of an elevator in Malaxa - Burileanu building), they all come to issue a warning on the advanced state of degradation in which it finds itself an architecture of inestimable value.
