Public space
Habermann square
Project description
In Sibiu, next to the historic center, a space forgotten in time is settled between the ruins of an old beer factory. While the Zonal urban planning project is undergoing, we opted to apply a temporary solution while the definitive plan is drafted and constructed on the site. So the temporary project proposal made the main yard accessible to people, saved parts of the historic walls that were still intact and organized the space so that public events and gatherings of the community can be organized. Some temporary modular buildings, that could be relocated and reused later, were positioned in the square and occupied by local merchants and vendors that attract people who revitalize the space. All of these ingredients have made Habbermann square a pole of attraction, an alternative for shopping, relaxing and a space where social and cultural events can be organized for the public.
