Author's presentation text

Roberta Curcă (b.1991, Craiova, Romania) is an artist working and living in Bucharest. She has a BA and an MA in Graphic Arts from the National University of Arts in Bucharest and is currently working on a Ph.D. in cultural studies at the Center for Excellency in Image Study, with research focused on the bordering signs built during and after the Communist regime. She has been the recipient of the Ion Mincu scholarship in 2019 which enabled her to work on the on-site research of the signs from the South-Eastern part of Romania. Her work is inter-disciplinary combining academic research with drawing, photography, sculpture, and objects. Her focus is on discovering and exploring surprising things about the built world, often revealing the potential of otherwise invisible structures.
